Frequently Asked Questions
Salsa & Bachata Class FAQs
Everything first-timers ask before their first Monday night at Neck of the Woods, 406 Clement St in San Francisco.
How do I start salsa dancing in San Francisco?
The simplest way is to show up to a beginner drop-in class. At SalsaCrazy Mondays (Neck of the Woods, 406 Clement St), beginner lessons start at 6:30 PM every Monday — no partner, experience, or special shoes needed. If you want structure, the 4-Week Progressive Series starts a new cycle each month and takes you from zero to social-dance ready.
Do I need a partner to take salsa classes?
No. Most students arrive solo. Classes rotate partners throughout the lesson, so everyone dances with everyone — it's the fastest way to learn and the easiest way to meet people.
What should I wear to a salsa class?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. For shoes, anything with a smooth sole that stays on your foot works — avoid heavy treads or flip-flops. You do not need dance heels or special shoes for your first class.
How much do salsa classes in San Francisco cost?
At SalsaCrazy Mondays, a single class is $40 — and that one price covers the class and the Monday dance party together, so you can stay and dance after the lesson at no extra cost. Dance party–only admission is $10 in advance (early bird) or $20 at the door. The 4-Week Progressive Series is tiered by how early you buy — as low as $80 in advance, rising to $160+ at the door — so the earlier you commit, the less you pay.
How long does it take to learn salsa?
You'll dance real steps in your very first class. Most beginners feel comfortable at a social after one 4-week series, and confident after two or three. Consistency beats talent — one class a week is enough.
Is salsa or bachata easier for beginners?
Both are beginner-friendly, and at SalsaCrazy Mondays you don't have to choose — beginner salsa and bachata lessons run the same night, so you can try both and see which rhythm grabs you.
