Common questions about Salsa Mondays
What happens at Salsa Mondays?
Doors open at 6:30 PM at Neck of the Woods, 406 Clement St. The beginner salsa class starts at 7:00 PM, intermediate salsa follows at 7:55 PM, and salsa and bachata social dancing runs from 9:00 to 11:30 PM. A class ticket covers the class and the dance party together.
Is Monday a good night for my first salsa class?
Yes. The 7:00 PM beginner class is made for first-timers: it starts from the basic step, and no partner or experience is needed. Most people come solo, and partners rotate during class so everyone practices. After the lesson, the social lets you try your new steps the same night.
Who teaches the Monday class?
SalsaCrazy teaches the Monday class personally — it is the only class he teaches. SalsaCrazy Mondays has been running since 2000, over 20 years of Monday nights, and SalsaCrazy / DanceCrazy Productions was founded in 1995. You are learning from the person the night is named after.
Will I have people to dance with?
Yes. Over 250 dancers come every Monday, and most arrive solo. Partners rotate during the beginner class, so you practice with many people instead of needing to bring one. After the lesson, the salsa and bachata social runs until 11:30 PM with the same crowd.
What comes after Mondays?
The Progressive Series is the next step: a new cycle starts the first Monday of each month and builds each class on the last. For a bigger night out, Dance Fridays draws over 500 dancers every Friday — see the Friday salsa and bachata night.
